Evidence clearly suggests that the whole story is not true & impossible due to the fact of the timing of the Elizabeth incident & the mine under the building being built about ten years later.
 
Then we had Zak & his Ghost Adventures crew go in there & calling Mr. Wingfield a coward & a scumbag for something that he probably never did. You probably remember the famous brick toss episode where an invisible force threw a brick at them. Maybe it WAS George Wingfield`s ghost throwing it because he`s pissed off for everybody spreading lies about him for the last 3 or 4 decades?

I totally agree with the original post here.  I grew up in a haunted house and honestly, most of the stories I have seen on tv about the Goldfield reek of Hollywood storytelling.  Great for a thrill, but not very reliable.  The ghosts in my parent's house didn't perform on cue and there would be months between occurances.  I can't stand when I see some ghost hunting crew on tv trying to provoke a possible haunting into performing for the camera and then use every little sound or shadow or reflection as proof!  And why investigate in the darkness?  If a building is haunted, it's just as haunted with the lights on.  Hey, maybe it would be easier to tell what's actual paranormal activity and what's your imagination if you can see.  What I'd really like to see is someone actually restore the Goldfield.  It's a pity that such a beautiful building is just crumbling.  And what about poor Mr. Wingfield?  He can't defend himself against the rumors of Elizabeth and a baby.  Now thanks to those unsubstantiated stories, the whole world makes him out to be a monster instead of remembering the contributions he made to Nevada's economy.

Hello Midwestgal. It is true that haunting activity happens in the daylight too, but often when activity occurs there can be little flashes of energy that can emit light. So most investigators do investigations in the dark to try and capture evidence. Also it is said that the veil seperating the spritual real from the physical realm is at it`s thinnest point during late night early morning hours.
